MyTaxCalcs.com ("MyTaxCalcs," "we," "us," or "our") provides free U.S. tax calculators and educational reference content. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we retain it, and what rights you have regarding your information. By using this website you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information You Enter Into Calculators
Our calculators ask for inputs such as income amounts, filing status, deduction amounts, and similar financial figures. This information is processed entirely within your browser session to generate an on-screen estimate. We do not transmit calculator inputs to our servers, do not store them in any database, and do not use them to identify you. Once you close or navigate away from a calculator page, your inputs are gone.
We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use any calculator on this site.
2. Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, MyTaxCalcs collects certain technical information automatically when you visit:
- Log data: your browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and approximate time of visit. This data is collected by our hosting infrastructure and is used only for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis.
- Analytics data: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate -- which pages are visited, how long users stay, and what types of devices they use. GA4 data is anonymized and is not used to identify individual users. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Advertising data: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. See Section 4 for more detail.
3. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. MyTaxCalcs itself does not set first-party cookies for tracking or personalization purposes. However, our third-party service providers -- including Google Analytics and Google AdSense -- may set their own cookies. The types of cookies used on this site include:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): Used to distinguish users and track sessions in aggregate. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense): Used to serve relevant advertisements and limit how often you see the same ad. Google may use these cookies to build a profile of your interests based on browsing activity across sites.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of third-party services on this site. For more information on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, visit Google's partner policy page.
4. Google AdSense and Advertising
MyTaxCalcs participates in the Google AdSense program (publisher ID: ca-pub-5193834725888549). Google AdSense uses the DoubleClick cookie to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet. This allows Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
5. Data Retention
Because we do not store calculator inputs or create user accounts, there is no personally identifiable data for us to retain or delete. Automatically collected analytics data is retained by Google Analytics according to Google's own retention policies (typically 14 months for user-level data, after which it is automatically deleted). Server log data is retained for up to 90 days for security purposes and then deleted.
6. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or share personally identifiable information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We share anonymized, aggregate usage data with Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. We do not use any other third-party data processors that receive personal information.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or valid governmental request, or if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of MyTaxCalcs or its users.
7. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected about you, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.
Because MyTaxCalcs does not collect or store personally identifiable information from calculator users, and does not sell personal information to third parties, most CCPA provisions have limited applicability to this site. If you have questions about your California privacy rights, please contact us at [email protected].
8. Users Outside the United States
MyTaxCalcs is operated in the United States and is intended for U.S. audiences. If you are accessing this site from outside the U.S., please be aware that information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using this site, you consent to that transfer. Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom who have concerns about data processing under GDPR should be aware that, because we collect no personally identifiable data directly, GDPR obligations are primarily borne by our third-party service providers (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) under their own terms.
9. Children's Privacy
MyTaxCalcs is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
10. No Professional Advice
The calculators and content on this website are for educational and informational purposes only and should not be considered tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. Always consult a qualified tax professional for advice specific to your situation.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact
Questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy can be sent to [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time.
